M.A.R.S. is a self-formed evolving support structure and a living movement sustained by those who engage with it. It grows through encounters — through the ideas, gestures, and attention that people bring when they meet across disciplines and perspectives.
We are artists, researchers, writers, curators and care practitioners who explore what it means for art to emerge from collective responsibility rather than isolation, for creation to unfold in the midst of conversation and shared care.
Our work unfolds through exhibitions, performances, publications and gatherings that explore how artistic practice can also be a way of sustaining, listening and reshaping shared realities.
We invite those who feel resonance with our approach — artists, curators, thinkers, institutions, and anyone who wants to imagine more caring infrastructures for art.
Anyone can enter this field.
You can join M.A.R.S. by taking part in projects, collaborating on exhibitions, workshops or publications, proposing new initiatives, or hosting gatherings. Participation can take many forms, from long-term involvement to one shared moment of exchange.
You can also contribute by sharing resources. Our newsletter, blog and website act as collective channels where knowledge and resources circulate: open calls, residencies, publications, and care-related tools gathered from within the community.
By redistributes knowledge that supports us and what might support others the movement stays porous and alive.

There are many ways to join the M.A.R.S. movement — through artistic collaboration, shared resources, or ongoing support. Each contribution, artistic or material, strengthens the infrastructures we build together and keeps the movement alive as a space of care and creation.
You can join the M.A.R.S. collective as an artist, performer, curator, writer, researcher, educator or cultural practitioner. Membership grows from collaboration: propose a project, join a workshop, or co-create a publication. Formal membership of the collective is decided collectively by the group once a collaboration has taken place and mutual interest is expressed.
Become a regular supporter of M.A.R.S. and help build a space where artistic labour and care are valued and sustained.
Your contribution enables artist fees, new projects and community gatherings to happen.
Supporting Members provide the foundation that keeps the movement active, visible and fair, allowing art and care to grow together.
Choose the level that fits your capacity.
Companies, foundations and organisations can support M.A.R.S. as long-term Corporate Members or as Sponsors of specific projects and programs.
Partnerships may include tailor-made events, exhibitions or creative formats such as artistic dinners, workshops or in-house talks developed in dialogue with your team.
Together, we can shape collaborations that combine artistic imagination with social responsibility.
M.A.R.S. – Maternal Artistic Research Studio e.V. is a non-profit association. Your donation helps cover artist fees, production costs and community programs. It enables us to commission new works, fund residencies, and support artists balancing creation and care responsibilities. Every donation is a gesture of solidarity — care given back to those who care for others through art.
Buying art is also a form of support us. The Orbit Gallery, M.A.R.S.’ producer-run gallery, provides a transparent and fair structure for selling artworks and editions.
80–85% of each sale goes directly to the artist, while 15–20% sustains M.A.R.S.’ collective structures such as care, communication, publishing, artistic research, and administration.
Each purchase helps maintain the shared infrastructures that connect art, care, and community.
Support can also mean sharing what you already have such as your time, space or experience. You might offer a studio or exhibition venue, childcare, translation, photography, design or organisational skills, or connect us with new networks and collaborators. Such contributions make M.A.R.S. more sustainable and help creative and care practices grow together.
